Hundreds of keen skiers will soon be searching for their skiing gear and scooting off hunting for the deepest snowfall.
And without doubt the impact of your carbon footprint will be close to as far down the list of holiday essentials as a xmas cracker after xmas.
Just last Christmas, a tardy snow hit the headlines and holidaymakers were panicky about the flecks of snow disappearing nearly as soon as they put down.
Snowboarding business Chalet1802, placed at the foot of Monte Bianco in the Alps, is one of the only autonomous firms to go carbon negative and offer skiers an environmentally friendly selection when booking their ski trip.
Chalet1802 proprietor Correen stated: Last winter was a bit of a surprise with the warmest wintertime in 50 yrs in Europe. It was balmy and the snowfall didnt last so a lot of the early winter snowboarding season in the Alps was limited. We decided to become carbon negative to assist in the preservation the ski resort.
Correen said: We’re not seeking to prescribe to punters but we feel it is important to provide the clients the alternative without raising the price of the ski holiday. When the customer book with us they may further off set their carbon footprint and we soak up the added prices. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub - guests wish for opulence but not at the expense of the environment, so we looked at methods of reducing the affect of someone driving over here for a ski holiday.”
